CRYSTAL BADMINTON CLUB

RULES AND CONSTITUTION

 

1)            THE NAME OF THE CLUB WILL BE CRYSTAL BADMINTON CLUB

 

2)            THE PURPOSE OF THE CLUB IS TO FURTHER THE PLAYING OF BADMINTON BOTH AT A SOCIAL AND COMPETITIVE (LEAGUE) LEVEL.

 

3)            THE MANAGEMENT OF CRYSTAL BADMINTON CLUB WILL BE VESTED IN A DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED COMMITTEE CONSISTING OF THE FOLLOWING:

A)      CHAIRMAN                   (May remain vacant)

B)      CLUB SECRETARY      (Compulsory)

C)      TREASURER                 (Compulsory)     

D)     MATCH SECRETARY  (Compulsory if a team entered into the league)

E)      4 OTHER MEMBERS  (May remain vacant)

 

ALL THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS WILL BE ELECTED AT THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.  A QUORUM WILL BE DEEMED TO BE FORMED WHERE 5 MEMBERS ARE PRESENT.

 

4)            IN THE EVENT OF A COMMITTEE MEMBER RESIGNING THE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO APPOINT A MEMBER FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TERM OF OFFICE.

 

5)            COMMITTEE MEMBERS MUST BE A MONDAY OR A WEDNESDAY FULL CLUB MEMBER (BOTH WINTER AND SUMMER SEASONS).

 

6)            COMMITTEE MEMBERS MUST ATTEND AT LEAST 75% OF ALL COMMITTEE MEETINGS; FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN FORFEITURE OF OFFICE AT THE NEXT ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING.

 

7)            EXCEPT BY EXPRESS AUTHORISATION OF THE COMMITTEE THE MEMBERSHIP WILL CONSIST OF PERSONS OF 16 YEARS OR OLDER, SUCH EXCEPTIONS MAY BE MADE FOR PEOPLE OF EXCEPTIONAL ABILITY WHOSE MEMBERSHIP WILL RESULT IN THE OVERALL IMPROVEMENT IN THE STANDARD OF BADMINTON PLAYED AT THE CLUB.

 

8)            SUBSCRIPTIONS ARE PAID BY SEASON:

WINTER SEASON 1            1ST SEPTEMBER – 31ST DECEMBER

WINTER SEASON 2            1ST JANUARY – 30TH APRIL

                Members can pay for the whole of the winter season if they wish to do so

SUMMER SEASON              1ST MAY – 31ST AUGUST

FEES ARE FIXED BY THE ELECTED COMMITTEE AND ARE NON NEGOTIABLE.  ALL FEES SHOULD BE PAID TO THE CLUB TREASURER WITHIN ONE MONTH OF THE START OF EACH SEASON, FAILURE TO PAY SUBSCRIPTIONS BY THE DUE DATE CAN, AT THE DISCRETION OF THE COMMITTEE, RESULT IN EXPULSION FROM THE CLUB.

 

9)            THERE ARE TWO CLUB NIGHTS MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY.

                MEMBERSHIP CAN BE FOR EITHER NIGHT OR BOTH NIGHTS.

GUESTS MAY VISIT THE CLUB AT ANY TIME ON A MONDAY CLUB NIGHT.

THE COMMITTEE WILL SET A FULL VISITORS FEE FOR BOTH NIGHTS. 

                A GUEST WILL BE ALLOWED TO PLAY FOR THREE WEEKS BEFORE THEY EITHER APPLY FOR MEMBERSHIP OR DECIDE NOT TO PROGRESS MEMBERSHIP.  SHOULD THE GUEST WISH TO JOIN THE CLUB THEN A MAJORITY DECISION FROM THE COMMITTEE AS TO THEIR ABILITY AND SUITABILITY WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE MEMBERSHIP CAN BE ALLOWED.

ATTENDANCE OF WEDNESDAY CLUB NIGHTS ARE BY INVITATION ONLY.

SINGLE NIGHT MEMBERS CAN PLAY AS A GUEST ON THE OTHER CLUB NIGHT. THE FEE FOR SINGLE NIGHT MEMBERS MAY DIFFER FROM THE FULL VISITORS FEE. 

THE COMMITEE WILL SET SINGLE NIGHT MEMBERS VISITORS FEE.

10)          THE COMMITTEE RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE APPLICATION FOR MEMBERSHIP OR TO REQUEST THE RESIGNATION OF ANY MEMBER.

 

11)          THE CLUB MEMBERS, AT THE AGM, WILL HAVE THE POWER TO ELECT AS HONOUREE MEMBER TO ANY MEMBER OF THE CLUB WHO HAS JUSTIFIABLY RENDERED EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE TO THE CLUB.

 

12)          THE CLUB SECRETARY SHALL AT LEAST 21 DAYS BEFORE THE AGM POST IN THE CLUB OR ON THE WHATAPP GROUP A NOTICE AS TO THE TIME, VENUE AND AGENDA OF THE AGM.

 

13)          THE AGM WILL TAKE PLACE AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR (PLANNED FOR JULY) FOR THE PURPOSE OF PRESENTING THE ACCOUNTS, THE ELECTION OF OFFICERS ANY OTHER COMMITTEE BUSINESS.

OTHER CLUB MEETINGS WILL HOLD THE SAME STATUS AS AN AGM AS LONG AS HALF OF THE CLUB MEMBERS ARE PRESENT.

 

14)          ANY MEMBER WISHING TO BRING BUSINESS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE AGM MUST TABLE THE REQUEST TO THE CLUB SECRETARY 14 DAYS BEFORE AN AGM IS DUE.

 

15)          ANY MEMBER WISHING TO ADD OR AMEND ‘THE RULES’ OF THE CLUB MUST MAKE THEIR REQUEST TO THE CLUB SECRETARY IN WRITING. THE CLUB SECRETARY SHALL THEN INFORM THE MEMBERS OF AN EXTRAORDINARY MEETING TO BE HELD WITHIN 21 DAYS OF THE WRITTEN REQUEST TO ADD OR AMEND ‘THE RULES’.

 

16)          AMENDMENTS TO ‘THE RULES’ CAN ONLY BE ACTIONED AT AN AGM OR EXTRAORDINARY MEETING.

 

17)          ON SEPARATE APPLICATION OF ONE HALF OF THE MEMBERS, AN EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING MUST BE CONVENED.

 

18)          IN THE EVENT OF THE WINDING UP OF THE CLUB ANY REMAINING FUNDS SHALL BE DISTRIBUTED BETWEEN THE EXISTING FULLY PAID UP MEMBERS.

 

19)          THE CLUB HEADQUARTERS IS CRYSTAL LEISURE CENTRE, BELL STREET, STOURBRIDGE, DY8 1AE.

 

20)          MEMBERS MUST ADHERE BOTH TO THE RULES OF THE CLUB AND TO THE RULES OF CRYSTAL LEISURE CENTRE.  FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN EXPULSION FROM THE CLUB.

 

21)          CRYSTAL BADMINTON CLUB ACCEPT NO LIABILITY FOR THE LOSS OR DAMAGE OF ANY MEMBERS PERSONAL PROPERTY.

 

22)          CRYSTAL BADMINTON CLUB ACCEPT NO LIABILITY FOR ANY PERSONAL INJURY HOWEVER CAUSED.  MEMBERS SHOULD PERSONALLY TAKE OUT ANY INSURANCE THEY FEEL ADEQUATE.

 

23)          A COPY OF THE RULES AND CONSTITUTION WILL BE POSTED ON THE `CRYSTAL BADMINTON CLUB‘ WEB SITE AND UPON JOINING THE CLUB MEMBERS SHOULD ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THEY HAVE READ THE RULES AND CONSTITUTION.

 

24)          THE TEAM CAPTAIN, OR CAPTAINS, AND SELECTION COMMITTEE WILL CARRY OUT TEAM SELECTION BEFORE THE START OF THE LEAGUE SEASON.  NOTICE WILL BE GIVEN PRIOR TO THE SELECTION OF TEAM OR TEAMS.  ANY CLUB MEMBERS WISHING TO PLAY IN THE LEAGUE SHOULD INFORM THE MATCH SECRETARY PRIOR TO THE SELECTION PROCESS.  APPLICATION TO PLAY IN THE LEAGUE TEAM DOES NOT GUARANTEE SELECTION, ALTHOUGH EVERY EFFORT WILL BE MADE TO TRY AND ACCOMMODATE APPICANTS – THE SELECTION COMMITTEES DECISION ON TEAM SELECTION IS FINAL.
